All Terracotta necklace sets are handmade by skilled artists. They are made out of clay, which is then then fired in a klin and then hand painted with different colours to complement the Indo-western outfits.
‘Aatman Udyog’; a registered NGO; was conceived out of a desire to make village women ‘Self-Reliant’. This can be achieved by developing self-help business models on a small scale and assist them in promoting and consuming the products.
To initiate project ‘Aatman’; our volunteers have taken a step to indulge in creating the luxurious bath and body collection that is ‘uplifting’ in every sense of the word. The foundation has been laid at village ‘Bika’ in Punjab; India where women are trained and employed for handcrafting eco-friendly products. This way we seek to enrich the lives of the people who are associated with us and also help protect the environment. Our philosophy is to provide respect; independence, education and promote cleaner & greener environment.
With every Aatman purchase, women are empowered to assume responsibility of their own lives and children are offered opportunities they never thought possible. We hope this positivism imbues our products with a special quality, in addition to the fine ingredients used.
Indians have been using jewellery for adornment since centuries. The significance of jewellery in the country is evident from the fact that on many auspicious occasions, jewellery forms a part of gifts. It is the Indian women for whom jewellery holds utmost significance. In India, jewellery is considered auspicious for women. Talking about the significance of jewellery in the life of women in India, they are gifted jewellery in different phases of life such as, at birth, at coming of age, in marriage, on becoming a mother, etc. Certain ornaments, such as mangalsutra, nath (nose ring) and toe rings, quintessential for married Indian women. Each time we buy a foreign product we are sending money to foreign countries decreasing our Rupee value. It’s as simple as that. It’s not just an online shopping website but an online “Swadesi Movement” started by us, coz we saw that everybody wants to do it, everybody is concerned, everybody is worried but nobody was taking a step forward. So, we decided to do it.
During our Pre-Independence time, only one foreign company “East India Company” was looting us but after Independence more than 4000 foreign companies are medium of transport of Indian money to foreign countries. It’s as if we have to liberate ourselves from the “Chakravyuh” of these companies & start using our own handmade Indian products which are natural, soothing to skin & free from harmful chemicals.
We have set out on a mission to create a parallel FMCG sector as against the foreign companies FMCG sector which is the main source of Money-drain to out of India. We have to re launch the “Swadesi Movement” started in 1905 by “Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak”
Therefore, we present before you the Handmade & Handcrafted products right from the artisans. We are empowering these artisans to be Independent & self-reliant.
